Are You Afraid of the Dark? || BLACK (PC)

Black is an intense suspense/horror game created by . You play as a namable character who awakens in a pile of rubble, and are find by a strange character shrouded in shadow. Unable to refuse, the strange character takes you back to its cave. What are you supposed to do now?

The game plays out in a “choose your own adventure” kind of way, with that added bonus of making you feel that your life depends on each choice you make. Upset the creature, and face having your flesh gnawed on.

The game does a fantastic job of making you feel the darkness around you, and the sound effects add to the unease of it all. You never get a good look at the creature (at least in the endings I had gotten) which added to the overall feel of the game, and I like that the mystery was kept. The creature is described as horrendous and terrifying, but having that left to your own imagination may be worse than an actual image.

The dialogue is somewhat vague, but it’s interesting that it’s kept that way. You don’t know some of the details, so you can either fill in yourself, or enjoy the mystery of it.

The game was fairly short, I think it took me about 15 minutes to play through the first time. I got the true ending on my first try to! Go me? There are 9 endings in total, and I’ve gotten 2 others that both involved me dying. I kind of want to explore and see what the others could be as well.

Overall, I feel that the goal of the game was achieved. This game succeeds at making me uneasy, and I could feel the tension. I would highly recommend you try it for yourself! You can download free from Itch.io *here*.

Be sure to leave some feedback for the developer! Thanks for sharing some of your time with me today, and happy gaming!
