Hey guys! Welcome to another thrilling collection of free games from Itch.io! We made it to #20, everyone! It's kinda exciting for me, you know? Anyway, let's get to the games! 

1. Gone Wandering

Gone Wandering is a butterfly cathing exploration game created by Oogaphobia. You play as a young girl who, with her boat and her cat(/magical creature), goes hunting for butterflies. Can you catch the 4 rare butterflies?

This game is very relaxing, and I enjoyed cruising around the scenery, catching butterflies… or not, since I wasn’t very good at it. I did catch one of the rare butterflies, though. The map is seemingly so large in your little boat that it takes a lot of time to get around.

I love the N64 graphics aesthetic, it’s super cute. I love the cat(/magical creature) steering the boat! Overall, just a relaxing, take it easy kind of game. 2. Purifire

 The pixel graphics are nice.

Purifire is a 2D platformer created by TodesBrot and Walictor, wherein you play as Shiro and help him on his journey towards death. However, he is in a world in which he can neither die, nor truly live.

Purifire is an interesting platformer, and it has some puzzle elements as well. Your goal is to reach the fire, and burn yourself in its purifying heat. The mechanics are nice, and the controls are smooth. I’m a sucker for pixel graphics, so that’s good too. There’s something serene and calm about the backgrounds as well.

Overall, this game provided a bit of challenge, and was a well put together puzzle platformer. I recommend you give it a try for yourself. You can download it for free from Itch.io *here*.

3. Beneath Floes

Beneath Floes is a text based game that’s more like an interactive story, created by Kevin Snow. The tale involves some Inuit mythology, specifically the Qalupalik—a fish-like humanoid creature that dwells beneath the ice, and steals away any children who dark wander too close.

I love mythology in all cultures, so I enjoyed the learning experience. It’s written as though you’re being told a story, which I sort of liked given the content. You simply click to advance the story. There are some choices that can be made (usually changing a small detail of the story) but I don’t believe they have any significant bearing on the story itself, it’s just a way for you to make the story your own.

4. Miskro

Ahh~ The sun and the sky.

Miskro is a size changing adventure game created by Braindeer_Games. You play as an unnamed character who is trying to fulfil the wish of a deity that resides over these islands. As you explore you’ll gain abilities to change you size, giving you access to some new areas to explore, and so on.

In full disclosure, I was not able to fulfill whatever the deity wished of me. I gained 4 different sizes and gold and silver… coins? But that’s apparently not all there is to do. I plan to explore the islands some more if I have some off time, but I had enough fun playing with the mechanics and enjoying the scenery.

The graphics are decent, the blocky trees in particular I enjoy. It can be difficult to tell the difference between the sand and the water, so beware. It can be tricky when you’re bigger to see where exactly you are in relation to everything else below you.

Overall, the game is free so you have nothing to lose, but perhaps maybe you’ll enjoy a more relaxed pace game to wander and play in. You can download the game free from Itch.io *here*

It's hard to believe that I've made 17 of these already, but here we are! I'm bringing you 4 more games free from Itch.io that I think you might enjoy. Let's not watse anymore time!

1. Morning Post

Morning Post is a short, yet fun game created by happysnakegames where your job is to simply…. Do whatever you want. You’re a mail person, so deliver the mail, I suppose. Explore the area. Have an existential crisis.

I liked the look of this game. The style is simple, and cutesy, plus I loved that just about everything had a little face on it. Even your cursor is a little face. As simple and seemingly pointless the entire game is, I had fun looking around to find some little hidden characters hiding behind trees, and heaping piles of mail on everyone. I felt like the Owls in the first Harry Potter movie. 

The music is nice, upbeat and peppy. The characters are cute and there is a good variety. There isn’t much to this game, but if you want to take some time to unwind, and enjoy some nonsense, then this might be for you. You can download the game from Itch.io for free *here*.

2. Evo

Evo is a game created by shide, where you get to play God, and craft a world to your own liking (sort of). Your world is a blank canvas, and through the use of natural weather or disasters, you can help plant and animal live evolve in your world. 

The game helps you along with some hints to get life started. You can just sort of do your own thing. My biggest accomplishment was creating some giant octopuses! I do wonder how far along the evolution chain will go.

I had quite a bit of fun watching my world evolve, and you can try the game for yourself free from Itch.io *here*. You can play in browser, or download. The download operated better and with better quality, I felt, though.

3. Lilac Way

Lilac Way is a slow-paced exploration game created by carloalbino. You’re in a quiet farm like setting, with nothing but buttons to press.  These are sort of puzzles to get to a second part of the area, however the puzzle felt a bit unintuitive to me. They weren’t really thinking puzzles, or skill puzzles. It felt like mindless button pressing. 

The controls were also an issue. My cursor would keep setting off to one side or the other instead of in the middle which would make navigation difficult, as I couldn’t turn one way or the other, then. The graphics were decent, and I enjoyed the windmill and the lilac bushes. 

Although the game was relaxing and nice to look at, I’m not sure I would highly recommend the gameplay. However, you are welcome to see it for yourself free from Itch.io *here*.

4. Honey Home

Honey Home is an adorable action game created by dvdfu. You play as a bee in the rain, trying to make it back to your hive, to safety! Be sure to visit flowers to save as many of your fellow bees as possible!
 

You use WASD to control your bee, and the controls feel pretty good to play with. You can also play using your mouse, but I found the mouse much more difficult to use. The graphics are cute, and you can tell what is what without any issues. The music and sound effects are also nice.
 

The was surprisingly difficult, but enjoyable game. It really gets more difficult towards the end of the game. I lost a lot of good bees out there to flies and frogs. I highly recommend you try it for yourself and see how many bees you can save! You can download free from Itch.io *here*.

Short and Quick games from Itch.io #2

Hello people of the world! Today we're going to take a peek at some of the games I've found on Itch.io that are too short for me to consider full fledged games, but which might still have something to offer to you. So let's see what Itch.io had to offer!

1. Insatiable Creatures

 Insatiable Creatures is a short kinetic novel thriller written by PB&Jelly. Four highschoolers have disappeared while exploring an abandoned hotel, so Thalia, who is very interested in the supernatural, sends Lucas to investigate. I can’t say too much in the way of story because I don’t want to spoil the story. 

This kinetic novel left me wanting more. I really enjoyed the story, the art was beautiful, the writing was well done and the voice acting was spot on. The music and sound effects were also well done, and added to the overall experience. I would recommend taking the 5-10 minutes for story time.  You can download it free from Itch.io *here*

2. Back in My Days

Back in My Days is a runner style game created by Folz. In this game, you take control of an old woman named Clarisse. Clarisse doesn’t like all this newfangled technology that these millennials are using these days, so she’s going to take it away! Is her rocking chair, pulled by a small herd of cats, she speeds down the road to teach these youngsters a lesson! 

Using your mouse, you have to click on any of the passing characters with red on them. The red is the modern technology, and the green is the old. As you click on more of the red youngsters, the cats will pull you faster, and it becomes harder and harder to click on them accurately. 

I like the graphics in particular; the old timey feel of the game is really nice. I’m not good at runners, so I can’t say I really got too far in this game. What I played, I did enjoy, though. I encourage you to try the game for yourself, it’s free to download from Itch.io *here*.

3. Voice (Prototype)

Voice is a prototype game created by a small team of developers, and posted to Itch.io by Tony Coculuzzi, Ruth Bosch, Lisy Kane, Izzy Gramp, and Farah Khalaf. You play as a young woman in an art museum. You don’t really get a story, an objective, or anything. You’re just on your own. 

The art is beautiful, with a hand drawn quality. When characters speak, it’s not in words, but rather what sounds like airy flutes or other wind instruments. It sounds so cute, to me anyway. The prototype is agonizingly short, only a few minutes. I was really looking forward to more of the game. I hope some day to get more added to this charming little piece of a game.

4. Chawie’s Quest

Chawie is a little preview of an adventure platforming type game, created by Vinicius Osti. Your character looks like a baby Digimon, or a Tamagotchi maybe. He’s cute! 

Basically, the statue that is in the middle of your village that helps to heal the Chaw who are injured is broken! This is a huge problem. Do Chawie is going to set out to get a special plant to help fix it. This demo is very short, but attractive. 

The Chawcake function doesn’t work, and the respawn system could use some work. You can sometimes respawn directly on top of an enemy, which can make it difficult to get your place and move forward. However, I think that this game could be something worthwhile with a little work. You can play a preview and see what you think, by downloading free from Itch.io *here*.
