Love is Blind || Out of Sight (PC)

"Loving someone can blind you, just as easily as losing them can open your eyes." --Unknown

Out of Sight is a romance visual novel created by Selavi. You play as Lina, a bookworm who enjoys spending her afternoons reading in the park. Today, she’s decided to settle in and finish her latest book by the lake, since the book is about a blind man at the lake.

Lina finishes her book and decides to relax, so she removes her own glasses and takes a short nap. However… when she awakes, her glasses are nowhere to be found. Lina can barely see anything without her glasses. You get the choice to either look for them yourself, or ask for help/ This is where the branching seems to begin for the two different characters—Orion and Caleb.

I found both Orion and Caleb to be interesting, but I like Orion a little more because of his fun having nature. Plus, playing pranks of people is what I would do in his situation. Caleb seems a little more straight-laced and serious.

The sprites are nice (if/when you get to see more than a blur), and I love the background and the faux painting appearance. The music is relaxing and I enjoyed it also. There are 7 endings in total, plus a bonus ending you can get if you get all the others first. The developer was even nice enough to share an endings guide so that you could get them all if you had trouble, which is nice.

Overall, I think that this is one of the better VNs that I have played lately. I enjoyed it enough to play through all of the endings, even. I also enjoyed all of the endings, so I would recommend it to anyone who likes visual novels and a little romance.

You can download the game free from Itch.io *here*. As always, be sure to leave feedback for the developer. Thanks for sharing some time with me, and happy gaming!

Splish Splash! || Mermaid Splash (PC)

Hello everyone! Thanks to my birthday, and also because this is LGBTQ+ PRIDE month, we’re looking at some special LGBTQ+ friend games. Today the game we’re looking at is a sweet yuri/GxG romancey story. So without any further delay, let’s get to the cuteness!

Source: Screen Capture in Game

Mermaid Splash is an adorable visual novel romance created by Sofdelux Studio. You play as CiCi, a mermaid that dreams of entering the Passion Festival and showcasing a special talent. However, CiCi has never had the focus required to specialize in just one area. She loves all her hobbies! This time, though, CiCi is going to do it! She’s going to pick a skill and master it!

This game progresses with the use of time management. It’s up to you to help CiCi plan her weeks wisely so that she can master one of her hobbies to show off at the Passion Festival. You’ll also get to choose a friend to spend time with on the weekends. You only have 4 weeks before the festival, so choose wisely.

In my playthrough I threw my all my time at Bea, the cuttlefish. Cause she’s adorable, and the tentacles reminded me of an octopus(my favorite animal). This meant I also chose fighting as CiCi’s hobby.  I enjoyed the play through, and the characters are super adorable.

Besides Bea, there are 3 other characters you can also spend your time with, Angie the Angler, Delora the Sea Slug and Maka the Shark. There are also 23 endings in total, according to the Itch.io Page, so the game seems to have some replayability—especially if you’re a completionist.

The game graphics are very nice, the characters sprites, in particular, are too cute for words X3 . The backgrounds and environments are also well done, and I love the soft look of the coloring. The music and sounds are fitting for the game, as well as the adorable story and cute dialogue.

Overall, I feel the game is worth the multiple playthroughs to get to know the other characters, which is what I plan to do! If you’d like to try the game for yourself, I encourage you to download the game free from Itch.io *here*. You won't be sorry.

Thanks for sharing some time with me today. Be sure to leave some feedback for the developers, and happy gaming!

Tales of Saleana DEMO (PC)

Source: Screen Capture in Game

Tales of Saleana is the beginning of a visual novel style game revolving around vampires, specifically Saleana, created by HarmoniaProxPro. You play as Saleana, a vampire who just turned 20 and is about to embark on her first lone human hunt. Saleana however, doesn’t want to drink human blood, and had been surviving until now on animal blood. This leaves her grandmother very displeased, as she is breaking vampire tradition. Her grandfather, though gentler, explains that she needs human blood at some point to survive, that animal blood will not be enough.

So, Saleana reluctantly agrees to go on her human hunt, but she's not sure where to start. Luckily for her, she meets Kalen and hears the singing of angels. That is, she fell in love at first sight. Saleana decides then and there that Kalen will be her victim. But… there’s a problem. Kalen is a priest! Not just a priest, but his cross seems to be one that associated him with hunters, who hunt and kill vampires and non-humans. Oops!

Saleana decides to stick with it, and is going to accompany Kalen for the chance to get at his neck. However, it seems the bright noon-time sun is too much for her and she passes out. We awake to Cassius, who is clearly a hunter. Saleana is in for it now…

The demo is interesting. I tend to feel that vampires and zombies are overdone, but I think this game can be good. The art is beautiful, the CGs and backgrounds are detailed and amazing. The music and sound effects seem a bit loud, I had to turn them down to almost mute to keep my ears safe in my headphones.

Overall, I felt the demo gave a good indication of what was to come, and I look forward to playing the full version. You can get the demo yourself on Itch.io *here* free to download.

As always, be sure to leave your feedback for the devs! Thank you for sharing some of your time with me, and happy gaming!
